Hello Daybreakers,

This mornings meeting was very quick and efficient. We finished at 8.15ish.

I presented Mel with a Certificate for his Specsaver donation to End Trachoma. His donation will provide 66 indigenous homes with mirrors and give 125 children a facewasher of their own.

I spoke on the Scriptwise Forum, there are a great deal of issues associated with the overuse of prescription medications, and this will increase, or be highlighted when real time monitoring comes into effect in Victoria in September. I hope as a club we can revisit this over the coming months and see how we can help within our community to create greater awareness and help reduce some of the problems.

Last week the board allocated funds to the following:
  • Parkinson’s support group
  • Clontarf Academy
  • Kalay Academy
  • Coast Guard
  • Warrnambool Community Garden – Kitchen

Also, several weeks ago I was approached by an donor, who wanted to remain anonymous, who told me that if we would donate $2,000.00 to South West Healthcare’s Prostate Detection Equipment Fundraising Campaign he would match the amount. The board were a little sceptical, but agreed. I received a cheque from him yesterday, and so, we have donated $4,000.00 toward this appeal.

We were very lucky to have Susan Morey come at very short notice to come and talk to us about that appeal. Susan explained to how important is for the Hospital to have the very latest in equipment. Not only is it a much better equipment than is currently used in other hospital’s but it also helps to retain the specialists that are hard to attract in the first place.

Next week we will be having a planning assembly to get next year off to a flying start. Please make sure you can be there because your input is essential - it is your club and when you have an opportunity to voice your opinion you should be doing just that ! Positive input is required please.

Next Week:   Continental Breakfast  $17.00

Please send apologies through to Steve on 0457 926 657 by Midday on the Tuesday.
