Hello Daybreakers,
This morning, as we were in the back room, I arranged to reduce the number of tables and to squeeze 10 people on to each table. I’m not sure how everyone else felt about it, but I thought it worked quite well, we had plenty of room to move about and as we weren’t as spread out as usual, conversation seemed to be very easy. Even Chris, our cashier was in there with us, and not stuck out in the hallway.
Our guest speaker, Ray Lougheed was a joint recipient with Barry Baker for the Warrnambool Citizen of the year award. Ray is a former Daybreaker and a Past President of our club. He gave us brief outline of his life, and how he came to be considered for the award. Ray has been involved in Radio for many years, and is on 3YB every Sunday night from 9pm ‘till midnight, and has no plans of giving that up. The majority of his working years were spent in the Ambulance Service and Red Cross. He is currently the Chair of Food Share, and the Victorian Retired Ambulance officer association, and the local representative for that Association. He is a very interesting speaker, and what a great voice. I really appreciated hearing his story.
Coming up tomorrow night is the Peace Concert, with Janey in the Rotary Peace Choir, and on the weekend many of us will be working at Harris Street Reserve on the Dog Trials. Enjoy the long weekend everyone.
