Hello Daybreakers,    
 
This Wednesday’s meeting forum we basically had two groups. Food Bus and membership/Brochure, below my chat is Cheryl’s report on the food bus progress.
 
Members were asked what Daybreak is, the response was: early mornings, sausages, fun and enthusiasm. Members were also asked to submit a testimonial- a brief story of why they joined and what keeps them in the club. It is a little disappointing that we weren’t able to get more testimonials back, but there is still time. Have a quick think about it and either email, or hand one to me next week.

 
There was also some discussion on how Daybreak is perceived in our greater community, this is a main focus for the production of the DL brochure, as we will be appealing to sections of the community that we would want to attract to our club, as Daybreak is just one of many organisations in our community hoping to gain more members, gather volunteers and raise money to enhance our community.
 
Please remember that the “Ride to Work” Pancake Breakfast is on the 18th of Oct. on the Civic Green. This will replace our normal meeting and we’ll make it a fun morning!
 
I am meeting with Mandy from Pippies on Monday, so am not yet able to confirm this as our meeting venue for the 25th of October. I will send out a special email to let everyone know what is happening as soon as I am able.

Bus Group Assembly Notes:
 
A brief discussion took place as to how the proposed bus project did not come to fruition.
I have since been advised that Ed and Ria have donated the bus to Father Bob the priest from South Melbourne.
 
Outcome:
 
Cheryl will email Jenni Hand and Lyn Eales at Brophy and explain that we will revisit the homelessness situation in February next year when our busy season is over.
 
Cheryl will contact Andrew Edgar, Co-ordinator of Homelessness in the Barwon, South West Region. Purpose of this contact is to explain the failure of the bus and where we will go from here.
 
Concerns were expressed about overlapping on systems that were already in place. We need information on what, where and who currently provide assistance.
 
Council has approved that homeless can access showers, laundry and dryers in the caravan park.
Sue Cassidy has indicated that she will offer haircuts to homeless.
 
Her dentist has indicated he would assist also.
 
My guess is that Mehul will offer eye checks as well.  We need to check.
 
I expect a token system could be set up for the above.
 
We can follow all of this up in February 2018.
 
Grant: We could apply for a grant to purchase a suitable trailer set up that we would serve food from. Check this out asap as this can take some time.
