Matt organised a working bee with club members and RSL, Melbourne and Warrnambool Legacy and Open Arms volunteers to spruce up the surrounds in preparation for the Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Service happening this Thursday.
The RSL Volunteers were delighted with the extra hands, all up we were able to provide and extra 18 hours worth of work in the two hours we were there as a team. With the other groups pitching in it was a 28 hour boost to the RSL. The tasks included mulching, weeding, raking, whipper-snipping, trimming, lopping, shovelling, wheelbarrowing, pressure-washing and of course supervising before a beer to be enjoyed, it is fair to say it seemed to feel good to be out and about working on something together again. As the RSL says, #thespiritofmateshipliveshere and going by the jokes in the bushes out front, it seems mateship is also alive and well in the club.
Excellent teamwork and thanks to everyone that could make the Friday afternoon. We know it's not possible for everyone, and other activities will be weekends so that we all get a chance to get involved.
