On the 17th of August we will be down at the site of the old Bromfield Street Wier revegetating the southern bank. This project is a collaboration between ourselves, the other three Warrnambool Rotary clubs, and the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority (GHCMA). This area will be maintained by the Rotary clubs and members of the public will be encouraged to visit and enjoy the river here. Previously the public had been discouraged from visiting the site because it was dangerous.
This is part of a long term plan, involving the GHCMA and many community groups, to revegetate the banks of local rivers to beautify them and provide a riparian zone filter to improve the water quality in our rivers.
