On Saturday David, Greg, Rowan, Malcolm, Paul R, Hayessey, Shane, Surf, and your correspondent joined members of the other three Warrnambool Rotary clubs down at the site of the old Bromfield Street Weir. This project was a partnership between the four Rotary clubs and the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority (GHCMA). Rotarians planted 700 carefully selected local native plants to revegetate a stretch of the southern bank of the Merri River. The plants were a mix of grasses, tube stock trees and some larger, more mature trees and other plants.
After completing the task at hand, Rotarians enjoyed a barbecue courtesy of the East Warrnambool barbecue trailer (thanks James) and also enjoyed a tea or coffee courtesy of electric car vehicle-to-load (thanks Hyundai). A big thank you to the GHCMA and all the wonderful Rotarians who came out. We will now explore options to pursue further revegetation projects with the GHCMA.
