Julia Taylor was our guest in March discussing her vision of creating an environmentally friendly area at the Splash Pad and around the village.  An entrepreneur (owning The Country Cupboard here in Fenelon Falls) and “green activist”,  Julia’s vision is to have increased recycling at Garnet Graham Park by having specific containers for plastics, paper and garbage as well as rain barrels and a water refill station.  Rather than regular waste bins, she would like recycling containers, featuring environmental features with advertising on what items go in what bin.  55 gallon bins with lids are the ideal.

The water refill station on the outside of the new change rooms/washrooms would be an added bonus for people who are using their own water bottles.  There is already a plan to install two showers on the outside of the building. It would not be a difficult task to add another tap for water.

Julia estimates the cost to be $175 per bin with three bins in a cluster.  Perhaps three or four clusters around the Splash Pad, playground and park area would be considered.   Total estimated costs of around $2100.00.
