GUEST SPEAKER – TIM KLEINPAS
Tim provided an interesting presentation on his home in Germany. He lives in the town of Ottenstein and sometimes rides his bike 50kms to Niederlande. He provided photos of his family, mother father and 17 year old brother and the house they live in which looks lovely in the summer and snow covered in the winter. Tim told us about the Schutzenfest which is a very special event and his mother was elected as Queen of the event last year.
Tim’s passion is soccer and he showed us photos of his team as well as the team of 7-8 year olds he coaches. He also enjoys diving, snorkelling, fitness training, motor cycling and playing the drums. His school at home has little space for outdoor activities and he is impressed with his current school Emmanuel College which has a number of playing fields and basketball courts. There are no school uniforms in Germany and little choice in subjects, whereas at Emmanuel College there are a number of optional subjects he can study. School back home starts at 7:45 am and finishes at 3:30 pm and as Tim stated, it gives him 1 hour less sleep than here in Warrnambool.
He has been to football matches and also 2 AFL matches and is happy to have seen the Bulldogs win the grand final.
He trains with the Merrivale Football Club and plays Soccer with the Rangers which won a tournament.
He showed photos of what he has been doing since arriving in Warrnambool – Hopkins Falls, and for the first time ever he saw an emu, kangaroo and a koala.
What Tim would like to do while he is in Australia is to go surfing, climb Uluru, dive at the Great Barrier Reef and visit Sydney.
