Congratulations for those who volunteered at our Book Sales & those that packed up before Tony got there. He looked very pleased.
Congratulations to Rotarian Gary Kimber who with his wife Marilyn were awarded the joint Corangamite Shire Council 2026 Citizen of the Year Award. Gary is active in the Cobden Rotary Club and has been very supportive of the RYLA Program.

Astronaut Katherine Bennell-Pegg named 2026 Australian of the Year. In her acceptance speech she spoke of the need for the promotion of STEM in our schools. She warned the nation was leaving “too much talent on the launch pad as young people turned away from STEM subjects”. We as a Club should be very proud of our efforts supporting and promoting STEM through the National Youth Science Forum and the Science and Engineering Challenge, both ably run by our Brooke.

Ken has circulated a mid-year financial statement to members. Many members have expressed appreciation for the update and the work he does as Treasurer, well done Ken
Ken reports that the Book Sales have grossed over $5k. Congratulations to all those involved.
Leon advised the meeting that the Club will participate in a joint meeting with other Clubs on Thursday 5th March at the RSL. Guest speakers will be Shane Wilson representing Standing Tall and Barbara Sheehan, the District’s Environment Director. The District Governor is to be invited as well.
Staying Safe on Line:
Our Kayla Biender and two of her staff, Samy Hilliam and Zach McKenzie gave members a very interesting and relevant talk and brochures on how to avoid scams, fraud and elder financial abuse.
Common scams are Investment scams, Remote Access scams, Romance/Relationship scams, Phishing & Smishing, Business email compromise, Threat & Penalty, Employment and Online Shopping.
Protect yourself from scams:
STOP >>>> CHECK >>>> REJECT
Passwords: Most people use predictable passwords, so try creating a unique long and whacky pass phrase for each website or service or use a Password Manager App.
Thanks Kayla, Samy and Zach for a most informative presentation to keep us safe in 2026.
