Sorry no Bulletin last week, George was unable to get it completed before he left for Manila. The Bulletin is directly linked to Clubrunner, so we hope in the future that we will have more than one Bulletin Editor at any one time to share the load.
Tomorrow is the final session for RYLA, we can arrange for anyone who would like a lift, leaving at 4.30pm. Currently Sharon, Michael, Glenn and Rachel are attending.

District Assembly: Sunday April 28 we have a mini bus organised for members to travel to ‘Assembly’ leaving at 7.30am from Flagstaff Hill. It would be great to have all next year’s Board members and new members attending as well. We will check numbers next week who will nominate to attend.

Annual May Race Day Breakfast: Thursday May 2 we have the annual May Race Day breakfast – 6.45 for 7am start. ‘Hat day’ raising funds for Australian Rotary Health. Normal apologies by Tuesday and we will book you in.
Portland Day Trip with other Group 5 Clubs: Sunday May 5we have a social day trip to Portland with other Group 5 Clubs. Flyer on your table, I will need an idea of how many are likely to go to work out the size of the bus. Will be shared by other Clubs. Intend to head back to Warrnambool around 3pm.
Board Meeting decisions
Board will consider whether to drop the invocation and loyal toast and discussed what, if anything might replace it. Considered out dated and not a highlight for new potential members. Please give your feedback to board members.
Board decided to contribute $1000 to the drought affected farmers in Gippsland.
Board confirmed the intention to donate $4000 to Rotary Foundation, plus Centurion payment (9 to date with $100 in $2 coins).
The Club intends to proceed with Youth Exchange next year. Louise Brennan has volunteered to be a counsellor and would like an assistant counsellor to help.

Dinner Auction collections should be well underway. Members are encouraged to get their collections completed sooner, rather than later.
Volunteer Book: Don’t forget to fill out any volunteer time and pass around. Record anything you do for Rotary, other than meetings.
RCW Business Cards have been made for members to fill in their name and contact details. Another introduction from the Public Image Committee and will prove handy when visiting businesses for the Dinner Auction.
Tonight’s program was introduced by Richard Hawker, handing over to Delia Jenkins who led the members to the Brauer library to give an overview of the 3D printer and a drone. The students have an opportunity to program the course the drone takes within the confines of the library. The 3D printer completed its program, giving all an opportunity to handle objects created by the printer.
Following the library all present logged into individual computers in the computer lab. Members polished up on their skills by logging into Clubrunner.
Judy – the 5-cent jar has been filled and to be counted. The result will be held in secrecy and a competition conducted over the next two weeks to guess the total amount saved in the jar. $1 per entry with a donated prize for the winner.
Consider this: You have designed a really good running shoe and want to take it to the world. Without doing anything else, you engage a team of salespeople and tell them to go out and sell those shoes.

Yet, this is what we Rotarians are expected to do, so isn’t it any wonder we are finding it difficult to generate membership growth?
Successful businesses know they must continually work on their brand awareness and use a variety of marketing strategies – TV, cinema, billboards, retailer promotions, print media, digital media etc – to promote it.
So why are we so embarrassed about devoting some of our financial resources to: creating brand awareness and to contrast reinforcement and promotion of specific programs and causes, via the moving image, with membership recruitment the ultimate goal.
You can do your bit by wear your Rotary lapel pin, wear your Rotary jacket, wear your Rotary cap, place a Rotary sticker on the window of your car and when ask what do you do in your spare time or a hobby, promote the greatness of Rotary’s work. Our Rotary Club should have its own strategies for promoting Rotary.
