Presidents Report
 
Well we certainly had a crowd last week, and Alan’s presentation definitely delivered.  I don’t know about the rest of you, but I found it very interesting and informative.  Those homesteads were just incredible, and I for one never realised that there were so many of them in this neck of the woods.
 
A big thank you to all our guests, it was great to see the many new faces.
This week, on the 12th, is World Youth Skills day.  According to the UN, 22% of current jobs will transform by 2030 due to technological disruption.  Our club is helping to create lasting impact in this area via our Science & Engineering Challenge, which is coming up next month.  It’s a great day so if you have the opportunity please see Brooke about volunteering for the day.
 
Have a well-earned break Chris, the first meeting was tough.  (Only kidding, see you when you get back.)

  1. ONE ACT PLAYS
 
Date: July 11 (2pm&7pm)  and July 12 (2pm)
Venue:  Emmanuel College
 
​Local scriptwriters were invited to submit scripts (20–45 minutes) for our second One Act Play Festival, "Fate and Destiny".
 
Nine scripts were submitted for consideration, and a panel was formed of members who were not playwrights, who had nominated a play, to assess each script.
​​
Four plays were chosen:
  1. A Way With Words
  2. Odelle
  3. The Shirker
  4. The Unluckiest Man In The World
 
These plays will be performed at the Wyton Theatre, Emmanuel College on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July.

Bold, funny, beautiful and unlike anything else on our season, Orlando is a theatrical adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s genre-defying novel Orlando: A Biography by playwright, Neil Bartlett. 

The enthusiasm for this show and the quality of the auditions were outstanding and we want to thank everyone who auditioned for putting themselves forward and participating in the process.

Reminder! We are collecting 10c bottles for our projects. This is a really easy way of earning 100% profit for out club. You can utilise the app, or Brooke has business cards with the barcode on it. All you need to do is scan the barcode at the machine, then put the bottles in.
Alternatively, you can put your bottles in the bucket at each Rotary meeting, or drop them to Brooke and George's house on Kelp St.
