President John congratulated Iris Bickley on her 90th birthday as well as other Rotarians celebrating birthdays in February.
Rotary Dinner Auction is coming upon us again and Rotarian Tony Austin asked members for their support in obtaining the names of sponsors and providing him with their details asap, as letters will be going out once a date has been decided.
Car Boot Sale on Saturday - helpers were sought by Tony Austin. There are some good quality brand new football boots and cricket helmets for sale, which were donated to the Club when De Grande's closed down, so if anyone knows someone needing this type of sporting equipment let them know that they had better be quick because they will be going for a "song".

Last Wednesday evening Rotarian Terry O’Neill represented our Club at the 15th Annual, Warrnambool and Moyne Youth Achiever Awards, held at the Lighthouse Theatre. There were almost 150 nominations for the achievement awards and these awards were capably run and judged by the Warrnambool and Moyne Youth Councils.
There were awards for Art & Culture, Community & Leadership and both Sport & Academia, with our Rotary club sponsoring the overall award winners.
On Tuesday night two of these young achievers were guests of our Club:
The Moyne male Overall Youth Achiever of the year, Locky Moir and the Warrnambool female Overall Youth Achiever of the Year, Lucinda Watson. Unfortunately the two other Overall award winners, Sara Bolch, the Moyne female Overall Youth achiever of the year, and Nick Young, the Warrnambool male Overall Youth Achiever of the year, were unable to attend due to other commitments and wished to thank the Rotary Club of Warrnambool for their generous sponsorship of the Awards.
Locky and Lucinda spoke to members about their achievements and thanked the Club for its sponsorship. These young people are to be commended for their achievements and are worthy recipients of these awards.
Rotarian Doug Maclean introduced guest speaker Ray "Scruffy" Henry from the Rotary Club of Darwin which he transferred to in 2007 from the Stuart Rotary Club Alice Springs where he was a member since 1980. He was one of the founding organisers for the famous Henley on Todd (HOT) Dry River Regatta, which has been running for 53 years. This extremely popular and hilarious event is held under the gum trees in a dry river bed in Alice Springs. It is a joint Rotary fund raiser which raises significant funds through sponsorship, stalls and entrance fees that are divided amongst the Clubs for their various community activities.
Ray provided an extremely interesting presentation showing pictures of the various events throughout the day, including a grand parade, bath tubs, kayak, maxi and mini yachts, boogie board (to name a few) which culminate in a "battle of the boats", quite a spectacular event! Ray built and captained the "Nauteus" for 25 years and has taken the boat on promotional trips to Melbourne and Perth and has had some interesting experiences along the way, in particular with the Police who didn't have a "procedure" for dealing with boats driving on the highway. The race was washed out once in 1993. Ray produced a book on the race, for which he won a Brolga award.
Ray was a two time President of the Stuart Rotary Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow for his work on the HOT. Roy has been on the road travelling since 2004 and speaks to various clubs about the Henley on Todd Regatta, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali and many clubs throughout Australia. Roy also volunteeres for the Melbourne Grand Prix and has been responsible for keeping a check on the pits area, so was able to meet and talk to all the various drivers and crews!

1 part cinnamon oil, 1 part patchouli oil, 4 parts sandal oil, 400 parts alcohol. This has a pleasant odour. Petrol or petroleum based products are also effective mosquito repellants, but generally are unpleasant to use and petrol tends to burn the skin if it is left on long enough.
Mosquito Bite Remedy
A 40% solution of formaldehyde is rubbed on the bitten area using the cork of the bottle. Diluted ammonia is also effective.
I recently spent $6,500 on a young registered Black Angus bull. I put him out with the herd but he just ate grass and wouldn't even look at a cow. I was beginning to think I had paid more for that bull than he was worth.
Anyhow, I had the Vet come and have a look at him. He said the bull was very healthy, but possibly just a little young, so he gave me some pills to feed him once per day.
The bull started to service the cows within two days, all my cows! He even broke through the fence and bred with all of my neighbour's cows! He's like a machine! I don't know what was in the pills the Vet gave him .........
