Weekly wrap up with President Peter
Congratulations Anne and her committee for organising the Garden Expo and for our guests on Tuesday night for showcasing their superb gardens. The feedback from patrons was very positive, hosts were very friendly and it was well organised. Over 130 people attended the Garden Expo and over $4000 was raised for our charitable causes.
It was wonderful to hear back from Audrey our defying the Drift student and what an impactful experience she has had. We wish her the best in her bright future.
Tony's wife Joan has had an operation and we wish her a speedy recovery.
Good to see Trish on her feet again. Her fall resulted in serious head injuries but hasn't affected her sense of humour, she was happy to have not broken the 3 bottles of wine she was carrying.
Ian Harper from the Daybreak Club reported that they had a very successful Oaks Day fundraising event. There was a bus load from Anchor Point. Apparently Anchor Point is commonly called Alcohol Point which Robbie confirmed.
There is a joint meeting with Port Fairy Rotary Club on the 26th November. At this stage 9 Port Fairy members are attending. John has had 121 members indicate that they will attend. It is expected that each club will talk about their current activities and representatives of the committee will talk about the history of St Bridgits.
The Rotary Foundation has launched Hurricane Melissa Appeal, it's been called a disaster of magnitude with colossal damage and loss of life in the Caribbean.
This is one of the several disasters Rotary is responding to at the moment, including:
Hurricane Melissa in the Caribbean, major disasters in the Philippienes, earthquakes in Myanmar/Thiland, Floods in Pakistan, the crisis in Gaza and earthquakes in Afghanistan. Over 100 million people worldwide are currently affected by disasters and conflicts.
Our club's AGM is happening at next week's meeting, nominations have been received for all positions.
