  • John Clue (Assistant Governor) has just been announced as the District 9780 District Governor in 2021/22. Congratulations John.

Meeting Introduction
  • Tonight we are fortunate to have Stephanie Cantrill speaking to us about Polio in Australia.
  • Since 1988 the Global Polio eradication initiative has:
    • Reduced the incidence of Polio by 99%
    • Reduced the number of Polio endemic Countries from 125 to 4
    • Changed the number of children paralyzed by Polio each day from 1000 to 3
    • This is the most significant Rotary Project since Rotary was established
  • Peace Concert: We only have a short time to fill the Lighthouse Theatre for the Peace Concert on Thursday, March 7 at the Warrnambool Lighthouse Theatre commencing at 7.15pm (Brochure on the table). Rotary in Warrnambool needs to sell 200 tickets to break even. Tickets from Sharon Stark @$30.
  • Don’t forget volunteer book fill out any volunteer time and pass around
  • There will be a Dinner Auction meeting at 5pm, prior to next weeks meeting.
  • Don Dickson passed away.
  • David Brown’s brother passed away – private funeral.

Judy – Asked for volunteers for the 90th Birthday celebrations – thank you to everyone – all jobs filled at the moment.
 
Sharon – Read out a letter of thanks from Emily Reid for her sponsorship to attend the National Youth Science Forum. She was very inspired by the experience and is looking forward to coming and speaking at a future meeting.
 
Fines – Many thanks to Mal for putting together an extensive list of fines. Those to pay up included Andrea, Mary, Ron, Steve and Louise, Chris, Glenn, Michael, Rachel, John Clue, All the ladies on the all female table (sorry Michael) and those who turned up to the wrong venue tonight.
 
Stephanie Cantrill - “Still Here: Polio Survivors in Australia”
Chairman Graeme Ward introduced our guest speaker who spoke about Polio and the contribution and work that Rotary has made towards eradicating this disease. There were many amazing facts and lots of interesting information. Pamphlets are available if you would like further information.
 
John Clue – Port Fairy Rotary and new District Governor in 2021/22 addressed the meeting and spoke briefly about his journey to applying for the position and that he is really looking forward to fulfilling the role especially with the District conference in 21/22.
