Both girls and put a lot of work into their respective presentations accompanied by excellent overheads and both gave extremely interesting and professional presentations which left parents, grandparents and Rotarians feeling very proud.
Both girls are heading for Europe and leave on 14th February 2017 and will be away for a year. Carly is heading for Austria and is waiting to learn who her first host family will be and where she will be attending school. Sarah is going to Bordeaux in France and knows where she will be going to school and has already skyped her first French host family. Sarah will not wear uniform at her new school and the school provides a hot lunch every day in their canteen. The girls have just finished Yr 10 here.

The following summary does not do justice to the amount of detail each of the girls had put into their presentations and is intended only as an outline of some of the content.
Both girls covered similar topics, but in a different order, and talked about Australia, our political system, Australian food, Australian Flora and Fauna, our state, our two flags and the meaning behind each design; Warrnambool the place, the population and local industries and tourist attractions. The girls explained the education system in Australia and talked about the schools they attend in Warrnambool. They each spoke about the projects and areas of community involvement the Warrnambool Rotary Club supports. Both girls talked about their families, the sports they play, their hobbies and both love shopping.
To illustrate what a large land mass Australia is both girls showed a map of Australia with Europe superimposed over the top. Their overheads were visually excellent and explained with interest and clarity.
Sarah ended her presentation by speaking to us in French, a language she has been learning now for a number of years.
At the end of Carly’s presentation Doug McLean complimented her on how excellent, well constructed and delivered her presentation was and many heads nodded in agreement.
Sarah’s presentation was equally impressive and she too was complimented by Rotarians for the work she had put into such an excellent presentation. Sarah hopes to try and deliver her presentation in French.
With every reason to feel very proud of the girls it was noted that some family members present teared up with pride when the girls spoke.
Both girls thanked their respective counsellors, Louise and Jules, for the support and guidance they are getting.
