We have received a thank you email from John Bek’s sister, Jose Farrer, of the St Brigids catering group. They were very appreciative of having the joint Rotary Club meeting there. Functions like ours greatly helps with meeting the large running costs of maintaining the buildings & church.
Again Tony has excelled in organising our Rodeo and huge thanks to members who volunteered. Thanks to Marion for finding a group entry button that saved a lot of time.
Dapinder has applied for leave to get married in India. I have advised him of the one and only rule “ happy wife, happy life”. We wish them well.
Our guest speaker Sophie O’Keefe is in charge of the South West Local Health Service Network. Sophie has a nursing background and took up this position in July. The Network was set up by the Allen Government to foster a more connected health system that delivers the right care, at the right time, in the right place for all Victorians. The Network covers a large area from Camperdown to Portland and north to Casterton, with a population of over 120,000. The Network includes 7 Hospitals and Health Services. Sophie’s role is to collaborate with and between these health services to promote efficiencies in the delivery of health care. That could be in staff availability , assistance with Safety and Quality, collaborative service provision and digital health. One of Sophie’s key roles is in advocating for funding on behalf of the 7 health services. We wish Sophie well in this important role.
I was very pleased to induct Kayla Biender to membership of the Warrnambool Rotary Club. Angela sponsored Kayla and spoke of her impeccable credentials and attributes that will make her a very valuable member. Brooke will be her mentor. Kayla has a working history in banking and is the Manager of the CBA bank in Warrnambool. She is looking after an exchange student from Italy at the moment. Her interests include caravanning and she is participates in the Park Run at Lake Pertobe.
I note that Brooke responded quickly to an expression of interest by Kayla and Angela followed in a friendly and informative manner. Well done
Friday sees Brooke loose her hair for a charity that uses the hair to make wigs for children with medical conditions. This is the 4th time Brooke has donated her hair. She has well and truly exceeded her target of $1,000. Would these children like grey hair? I think not!

A Bush Testament
There were some drovers, camped out in a paddock, keeping an eye on their mob of sheep. Their eyes shot out on stalks, when an angel of the Lord zapped into view, and the glory of the Lord filled the air like 1000 volts of electricity.
The angel said: “Stop looking like a bunch of stunned mullets. Let me give you the drum, the good oil: it’s top news for the whole crew – everyone, everywhere. Today in that little town on the hill, a rescuer has been born: he is the Promised one, the King, the Lord. And here is how you’ll find him: the little nipper is wrapped up in a bunny rug, and lying in a feed trough”.
And before you could say: “Well, I’ll be blowed!” the whole sky was filled with more angels than you could count, all singing away at the top of their lungs (if angels got lungs, that is): “God is great! God is bonzer – and to everyone on this planet who’s on God’s side: “Peace and goodwill, and by the way, Happy Christmas.”

Reminder! We are collecting 10c bottles for our projects. This is a really easy way of earning 100% profit for out club. You can utilise the app, or Brooke has business cards with the barcode on it. All you need to do is scan the barcode at the machine, then put the bottles in.
Alternatively, you can put your bottles in the bucket at each Rotary meeting, or drop them to Brooke and George's house on Kelp St.
Brooke is cutting her hair again for charity!
Every few years Rotarian Brooke grows out her hair and cuts it off to donate towards making wigs for sick children. It has come to that time! Brooke will be donating to the wig making store in Melbourne which was recently robbed. To help support them, she will donate her hair directly to the shop and fundraising with their linked charity 'MyRoom' which supports kids with cancer. If you feel like donating, you can click the button below. All donations can be claimed through your tax.
