Club members joined with Rotary Daybreak members to do a tour of
the Deakin Hydrogen Hub. This hub is an Australia-leading hydrogen research, testing, validation and training facility providing bespoke hydrogen infrastructure and equipment and has a wide range of equipment, facilities and capabilities targeted at achieving zero carbon.
Our guide was Research and Operations Manager, Danny Bernstein. The tour of the facilities was very interesting, displaying the equipment used to research, test, validate. hydrogen applications and to train students, Hydrogen has the highest energy per mass (120 MJ/kg) of any fuel, roughly 3x more than gasoline and when used in a fuel cells produces only electricity, water and heat. Some of Danny’s research is on optimising hydrogen fuel cells in terms of weight vs output.

This month is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention on the RI Calendar .
We are being asked to promote Rotary Peace Fellowship in our community.
“Applications for the 2027 Rotary Peace Fellowships open until 15 May.
“Dear club presidents and district officers, You can help promote peace in the world by encouraging peace and development leaders in your community to apply for the Rotary Peace Fellowship. This year, Rotary awards up to 170 fully funded fellowships for peacebuilders from diverse backgrounds to study at one of our peace centers located at leading universities around the world. The Rotary Foundation will select 50 peace fellows to study in our master’s degree programs at six partner universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, and the United States and 120 fellows to participate in our professional development certificate programs at Makerere University in Uganda, Bahçeşehir University in Türkiye, and the newest Rotary Peace Center at Symbiosis International University in India”
East RC report that they had best Hole in One with 160,000 golf balls fired at the pin & the Daybreak Club earned $3400 by volunteering there.

Volunteer for the Melbourne to Warrnambool Bike Race!
**- - UPDATED DATES - -**
Saturday 28th Feb and Sunday 1st March
Judy Ross is coordinating volunteers from our club to participate in the race. Volunteers mostly need to stand/sit at a point along the race path and monitor for entering cars that could disrupt or harm the cyclists.
The great part is that the race will donate $70pp who volunteers, which is a great and easy way for the club to raise funds for our projects.

Reminder! We are collecting 10c bottles for our projects. This is a really easy way of earning 100% profit for out club. You can utilise the app, or Brooke has business cards with the barcode on it (please ask for one). All you need to do is scan the barcode at the machine, then put the bottles in.
Alternatively, you can put your bottles in the bucket at each Rotary meeting, or drop them to Brooke and George's house on Kelp St.
