Acting President Brian Trenery welcomed members and guests including Exchange Student, Axelle, and our Outbound Exchange Student, Sara.
Rotarians will have received an email this past week regarding the District 9780 Youth Exchange Final Outbound Briefing to be held on 19th - 20th November. Due to a breakdown our club has been asked to host this event. A sub-committee has been formed to prepare for the weekend. The sub-committee will be approaching Rotarians for assistance with catering, etc.
Rotarians are asked to please support the event by giving assistance where possible and by attending the dinner to be held on Saturday, 19th November. Cost of the dinner is $32 per head. Disctrict Governor Stephen Lamont & Gaye will be present, along with DGE Ray Herbert and Deidre.
This weekend District Fellowship exchange couples will be arriving in Warrnambool. There are 5 couples being hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool.
Please note that the AGM is coming up on 15th November. Please consider those who you may nominate for a position on the board.
Rachel advised that applications for RYLA are now open. RYLA is a residential course aimed at developing youth 18-25 years old. Please see Rachel Furnell or Louise Keogh for further information or to nominate a young person. It is exciting to note that a past participant from our club, Jessie Shepherd, has been invited back as a leader.
Show Gate Report
Doug MacLean thanked everyone for their assistance with the show gate roster. Gate takings were up a little on last year but is not really indicative of the number of visitors as a lot of young children would not be included in the takings.
Many really enjoyed the show with visitors reporting that they "had a great time" and that it was "much better than 2015." Families were particularly pleased that primary school children were free.
Special thanks to our three exchange students, family members and friends, and rotaract. Together we provided 212 hours of service over the three days.
It is great that the club is able to support the show society in this way, generate some income, and do a good thing for the community.

Car Raffle
Louise Brennan reminded members that the Car Raffle will resume this weekend at Gateway Woolworths. The roster for the weekend is as follows:

The highlight of the night for the Melbourne Cup Rotary Meeting as always was the Post Cup Sweep drawn by Terry O'Neill.
Drawing the winning horse, Almandin, for a $70 prize was Robbin Blackmore. Michael Boyd was heart-broken drawing 2nd place with Heartbreak City for $30. Hartnell, backed by Jim Hanrahan, came in 3rd place scoring Jim the princely sum of $15. John Harris is a happy man winning a bottle of Red for drawing the 4th place getter, Qewy. There was no wine for Tony Austin who drew "Who Shot Thebarman", coming in 5th place - a box of Favourites was his reward. Drawing the 6th place getter, Almoonqith, was Anne Adams who also won a box of Favourites. Leanne won a romantic bottle of champagne for drawing the 7th placed Beautiful Romance. Ron Rauert was over the moon draw Exospheric for 8th place and winning a box of chocolates. The final prize winner was awarded to Trevor Williams who shot to 9th place with Pentathlon to win a box of chocolates. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" unless its Rose of Virginia who came in last on Tuesday, a consolation prize of $5 being awarded to Michael Boyd for drawing the slowest horse of the day.

The Auckland Rotary Club of Pakuranga have tailored the following tour of New Zealand for Australian Rotarians.
The tour is 2 weeks long, covers both islands and includes a Rotary host couple and a professional Tour Guide. The number of participants is limited to 30 maximum to ensure it is manageable, friendly and that all participants will be fully involved. So once we get 30 participants we will be closing applications.

Anne Adams thanked Rotary for supporting the fundraising efforts of Wangoom Hall Committee, toward improvements to the hall soon to be undertaken with support of council and government funding. She also acknowledged Leonie, who was the representative of the committee who has joined us for dinner tonight. Thanks were also exteneded to the Wangoom Hall Committee for providing the meal tonight.
