Raffle books need to be returned to Louise Brennan as soon as possible.
Rotary Shirts
Judy Ross reminded everyone to purchase a Rotary T shirt. Rotary shirts are available from Hip Pocket which is on the highway in what was formerly the old BBQs Galore store. The cost is around $25 and Rotarians are encouraged to get one to wear at public functions so that we look smart and professional.
Thank you and Farewell to Doug McLean and his wife
Judy thanked Doug for all his years of service and the various tasks he had undertaken year after year for our club. Doug will be greatly missed and we wish Doug and his wife Marcella all the best for a happy life in the new home they are building in Ballarat.
Terry O’Neil reported on outbound exchange student Ryan Keogh
Ryan had sent a newsy email to Terry so he could pass on to the club what he’s been up to in his last month in Finland. Ryan has been skiing and snow-boarding with his host family and friends; he’s been to Lapland in the northern part of Finland where it is minus 20 degrees. He’s also been lucky enough to do some husky and reindeer sledding and listened to an old man perform traditional Finish songs. After Christmas his host family have made plans to travel across Finland to the Russian border where they will ski and snow-board in the mountains. Ryan said it’s been a great year and he has enjoyed all the host families he’s stayed with. Ryan said that although he’s looking forward to being home with his family it’s also a sad time for him as he is starting to say goodbye to all the friends he has made during his year away and he realises he may never see many of them again. Ryan wished all Rotarians a happy Christmas and said he is looking forward to seeing everyone - with a smile on his face - on a Tuesday night when he returns.
Swindle
We did not have a Swindle because of the Kris Kringle.
Quilt Show
Andrea Sampson advised Rotarians that a Quilt show roster was being passed around and needed to be finalised as soon as possible.
Car Raffle Books
Steve Giddens asked for all car raffle books to be returned as soon as possible.
Steve has managed to get permission for our club to sell tickets in the Surfside and Ship Wrecked Coast caravan parks on the 29/12/16, 13/1/17, 21/1/17, 23/1/17. With the numbers of holiday makers in Warrnambool over the Christmas holiday period it is hoped we can generate lots of revenue for our club. Tickets are $2 each and our club gets approx $1.60 from each ticket sold.
The evening ended with a Kris Kringle and lots of fun was had exchanging gifts.
Wine and chocolates proved the most popular items to swap.
