Paul Harris Recognition was awarded to Louise Keogh President Michael Boyd called Louise Keogh to the podium. Louise has been a member of the Rotary Club of Warrnambool for 4 years and has had a big impact on our Club during that time and a significant impact on all Exchange students, especially the incoming students during that period. This recognition is being made to acknowledge the commitment and dedication to Youth Exchange by Louise. In a time when direct support for Youth Exchange has been waning in our area, Louise took up the challenge to engage the four Warrnambool Clubs in a program of shared responsibility. In a moment I will ask Phil Ritchie from Warrnambool Central Rotary Club to talk a bit about that challenge. I wish also to acknowledge the personal input from Louise and her family in hosting students and making sure they had what they needed whilst here. We have been able to rely on Louise’s attention to detail in making sure that the Exchange Students got the most out of their year with us and that we had regular involvement of the students in our Club meetings. Louise also made sure that the student presentations to the Clubs were of the highest standard and that host families and supporters were acknowledged. Rotarian Phil Ritchie responded on behalf of Rotary Central, a joint nomination between our two Rotary Clubs for Louise to be inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow. Louise coordinated activities between the Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool, together with hosting many students in her home. There is an inordinate amount of work that goes into organising the activities mini safari /safari, hosting and counselling to ensure the student’s stay in their host country goes well. Area Governor Elect John Clue presented Louise with the Paul Harris citation, medallion and pin, investing the honour as a Paul Harris Fellow. Louise responded with complete surprise, noting that it takes a village to raise a child, thanking all involved. |
