January is the time to celebrate Rotary by making others aware of our programs, of the opportunities Rotary offers and of the events and activities that involve you and your Club.
President John Hunt advised that he completed the Pub to Pier swim for the 21st time at Lorne on the weekend. It was his fastest time, but he was still behind Ted Baillieu by 10 seconds.
Next Thursday 23 January there will be a joint breakfast meeting with the other Rotary clubs at the Lady Bay Resort Bistro at 7:00 am. After breakfast there will be a golf challenge. Not many escaped Finesmaster Trevor, with Alan being fined for visiting the dentist, President John for completing the Pub to Pier swim, Michael Boyd lost his swindle winnings for winning two weeks in a row, Bunny and Duncan for not wearing name badges, and everyone who was wearing shorts.
Lisa Cairns introduced Adrian Benson, who is a Physiotherapist and the Allied Health Services Coordinator at St John of God Allied Health and Rehabilitation Unit.
Adrian grew up on a farm at Cooriemungle, finished his degree in physiotherapy in 2000, then travelled. He then came to Warrnambool in 2006 with his wife and 3 daughters. Adrian also volunteers with road trauma seminars. Adrian provided an interesting overview of the Health Services Centre of St John of God Hospital, then spent some time in addressing questions from Rotarians.

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the Chicken Surprise.
The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.
Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid
slams back down.
Good grief, did you see that? she asks her husband.
He hadn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation.
"Please sir", says the waiter, "what you order?"
The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise."
(You're going to love this, and you're going to hate yourself for loving it!)
"Ah! So sorry", says the waiter. "I bring you peeking duck!"
