Thanks to all those who helped out during the RYDA courses last week. The three days went off without a hitch and it was great to see so many students engaged on the day. Planning for next year is already underway.
Last Tuesday we heard from yours truly regarding online safety. The part on calls screening seemed to be a big hit, so I have already sent an email to club members with further details. The number of hangups I’ve had today has already risen to three, which is three calls I didn’t have to answer and listen to. That’s three wins in my book. 😊
On Tuesday the 8th there was a board meeting. At the meeting, the project plan for the Street Library was approved. The board also approved a proposal for the club to get involved with the DV Safe Phone initiative, with further details to follow. The details will be hashed out next week during the planning meeting. The AGM and next year’s changeover were also discussed. In preparation for the AGM, the full year’s accounts from last year are required to be reviewed by a panel and this has been set in motion.
Brooke also advised the club that she has been selected to be part of a panel to be held in Canberra during the Science and Engineering Challenge. The panel will be discussing STEM. It is quite an honor to be selected for such a panel and is a tribute to all the hard work that Brooke puts into the challenge. Well done, Brooke.
Next week’s planning meeting.
Next week we will be taking a break from our regular schedule for a planning meeting. We shall be presenting the current state of a few of our projects, and ask members to break into teams to discuss next steps for those projects. I am looking forward to the opportunity to flesh out the street library and DV Safe Phone initiatives, among others.

Should be a terrific night. Jock, from Port Fairy, ex Warrnambool, has spoken to our club before and was very insightful about his experiences as a legal person, a family man, and as a writer.

Hi Rotarians. I must apologize for this weeks newsletter coming out a little late, however, having just returned from a wonderful break in the Cook Islands, I realized that so much has happened whilst I was away enjoying myself.
I am aware that some of our members are not using What's App to view information by our members so I have included some of the information in this edition.
ROTARY CLUB OF RAROTONGA
I was a guest at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Rarotonga on a Tuesday evening. I was expecting something awesome, but in the end I found a Rotary Club, formed in 1969 really struggling to survive. The meeting held in the Creative Centre in Avarua, was attended by 4 rotarians, with takeaway meals, and unusually no formal business was held. The Club has 2 major Fundraisers, the first being the production and selling of a calendar. and the second being a golf day. The calendar was produced locally, costing $NZ8, and selling for $NZ25. Expected income would be $25,000.
It was interesting that I felt close to the issues of the Cook Islanders, because of the work our rotary does in PNG.
The photo shows 3 of their members, with president Fiona, in the middle. They were certainly a dedicated few.
OUR TRIP TO THE TROPICAL PARADISE OF THE COOK ISLANDS
Just to show that I really was in the Cook Islands with Marion and her sisters. Snorkeling with tropical fish, swimming and Kayaking in the Muri Lagoon.
