BOWEL CANCER tragically claims the lives of around 100 Australians every week. If you or one of your loved ones is aged 50 or over, you are at a higher risk of bowel cancer.
The good news is that, if found early, 90% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated. If aged between 50 and 74, you will or have already received a FREE home testing kit from the Government. If you have not already done the test, DO IT !!!
However, if you are outside the given 50 - 74 age bracket, you can avail yourself of the ROTARY BOWELSCAN PROJECT, which extends from
MAY into JUNE.
For a number of years I have not hesitated to participate.
Last year, I received a notice, with a NEGATIVE result in response to my annual ROTARY BOWELSCAN. Goes to prove that NEGATIVE news can be GOOD news!
I therefore did not hesitate to participate once more this year, looking forward to a similar result.
Personally, I cannot consider myself immune to cancer. My family gene is no doubt responsible for FOUR consecutive male generations of this rotten disease : my grandfather, my father, two brothers, and a nephew – and that is apart from in-laws, and only to date!!!!
Be aware of the early unsavoury warning signs:
Blood in or on the stool / A recent change in bowel habits / General stomach discomfort / Weight loss / Unexplained tiredness etc.
WARNING: See your doctor !!
Also, since 2003, our Club has actively supported RELAY FOR LIFE.
Is that only for the benefit of everyone else , but NOT OURSELVES ???
Test Kits are available at most pharmacies (e.g. Monaghan’s) @ $15 :
MAY BE THE BEST BARGAIN EVER !!!
