Rotary Meeting Tuesday April 2nd, 2019.
Ian Cairns opened the meeting and called on Rotarian Cathy Bligh for the Invocation and Loyal Toast.
President Michael welcomed everyone and our special guest and prospective member Jordan Weisner-Ellix, friend of Andrea Sampson.
Meeting Introduction
- Tonight we have our service Committee meetings. Possibly the last time this year you will be together to plan rest of the year, reflect on achievements to date and start planning for report for the end of the year.
- Don’t forget volunteer book fill out any volunteer time and pass around
- Dinner Auction collections should be well under way, always best to call before you visit to make sure the right person is there when you visit. If you have an issue with your collections please tell Glenn Brotchie. Only one set of potential donors not issued – Graeme Ross Any volunteer to take that on would be appreciated. Bring collection sheets and items to Rotary or drop them in to BBQ’s Galore
- Volunteer needed to attend this year’s Bunnings Community Recognition Night. 6 – 7pm on Thursday May 30th.
- Apart from the Fashion Parade this weekend (April 7th) and the Dinner Auction, our main activity before the end of this Rotary year will be the construction of a fence at Ted King Park. More details available soon.

Members Announcements
Svet Lineham – Very pleased to announce and a huge thank you to all concerned for 100 completed packs to be taken to PNG for Days-4-Girls. There will be regular sessions at the Alan Lane rooms on every 3rd Sunday for the rest of the year for anyone who would like to come along and continue to support this project. The dates are: May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug 18, Sept 15, Oct 20 and Nov 17.
Tony Austin - A big thanks you to all those who helped out at the Bunnings BBQ (and thank you to Tony and Judy for the extra little one they did). Total raised $865. Tony Austin, Terry O’Neill, Lou Brennan, Cathy Bligh, Trevor Williams, Leanne Dart, Chris Stebbings, Michael Boyd, George McLeod, Delia Jenkins and Alan Bowes.
Trevor Williams – Has a bag of Quinces and more at home if anyone wants them. Also some jars of honey for $5.00 each. Trevor’s son is doing a Comedy show at the Loft on Friday night at 7:30 if you are interested in a good night out.
Cathy Bligh – Fashion Parade Sunday April 7th. There are 2 all abilities models and there should be good coverage in the Standard. See Cathy for your tickets.
Richard Hawker – Our meeting on April 16th will be at Brauer College to use the computers to give everyone a refresher course in the use of Clubrunner. Please have your apologies in by Friday so we can get numbers for the catering for the night.
Camp Quality Wishing Well at caravan park. We have the go ahead to turn the Wishing Well into a beautiful garden but are looking for a Rotarian with a green thumb who could manage the maintenance of this. Watering will be done by the park staff. See Richard if this is something you could take on as a small project.
Glenn Brotchie – Dinner Auction committee meeting will be held prior to the meeting next week at 5:30pm. Can all members please ensure they are collecting their designated donations. Good idea to make contact by phone first.
David Brown – Club Assembly on 28th April in Ararat. Highly recommended especially for incoming Board members. See David if you are planning to attend and some shared travel could be arranged.
Rotary Leadership Institute – A great opportunity to explore leadership opportunities and expand your Rotary knowledge. See flyers below for more information or catch up with David.
Rachel Furnell – RYLA presentation is a Kangaroobie on Wednesday 17th April. It is a great night to see the fantastic work that is done. If interested in attending please catch up with Rachel.
Ian Cairns – Father of the Year has come around again. Meetings are held once a month at 8am on Tuesday mornings at Wines Café. There is not a lot of work to do as it is a well oiled machine now. After one more Rotarian to assist Glenn, Louise, Ian and Rachel.
Swindle – Was won by Svet – not a big win this week!
Service Committee meetings were held for the remainder of the evening.
