What do we mean by diversity?
It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along. the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.

I see Diversity in Membership as not only race and ethnicity etc but also about a cross section of vocations within our community.  Classification method.

SEE LIST

While the traditional method of inviting people to join a Rotary Club is to invite them, there are other ways of getting people interested or aware of Rotary.

We have tended to go away from the two-person interview/visit method to the come along and see what you think method.

People will become interested in an organisation or project if it has a high profile or if it constantly “in your face”

So how do you sell Rotary when asked, “What’s Rotary all about?”

Do you say; Oh, we meet once a week and some have a meal, we enjoy each other company and we do projects in our community and sometimes overseas.

OR DO YOU SAY:

We meet on a regular basis to enjoy each other company and provide service to others through various service avenues means including
Leadership, personal growth and decision-making opportunities for young people,
Create an awareness that every vocation is an opportunity to service our community
To plant trees under which we may never sit
Sink wells to provide clean fresh water for those in developing countries
Provide low cost shelters for those in disaster areas,
And we, together with other world agencies, are eradicating Polio from the world.
Not to mention the good work through our Foundation.

Would you like to be part of that?

WHAT WAS IT THAT HELPED YOU DECIDE TO JOIN A ROTARY CLUB?

It’s clear that Membership Recruitment and Public Image should run hand in hand.

When we undertake projects or fundraisers, we should be telling the world constantly who we are with large banners, flyers, having our logo and motto proudly on display and in that way, we will become more widely known and people will know what we do.
