MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

On Sunday 12 April  our Club welcomed 287 young Korean’s living and working in Warrnambool to an international Friendship BBQ. The day was a huge success and our Club worked well with the East Warrnambool Club members who attended with their state-of-the-art BBQ trailer. Those of us from Warrnambool Club had BBQ and tent envy. Although it was very much a joint effort, our Club should take great pride in the initiative for the event which came from Gordon Curran. Gordon thanked Graham Ross for his negotiating skills in obtaining the meat at a reasonable price, for transporting tables etc; Keith McLeod for his catering expertise and coolroom organisation; Doug Maclean for arriving with our Club's BBQ trailer and Roy’s tent; John Nisbet’s expertise in putting up the “light as a feather tent” (no it wasn’t!); Rob Cuzens and John Nisbet for their BBQing skills; Svet for her delicious coleslaw salad and for cutting up the slices and Anne, Mary, Marie and Isobel for helping with the slices and the soft drinks.

Thanks also to Peter Abbott who made Flagstaff Hill available free of charge.

 

Terry O'Neill advised that our club has two RYPEN students from Emmanuel College going to Mt Gambier on Saturday 18 April for RYPEN - they have transport with to Mt Gambier with a student from another club but the three of them need to be picked up between 3 and 4pm on Sunday afternoon and brought back to Warrnambool.  Please contact Terry if you are able to help.

 

1. The Rotary Club of Terang has Dr Ian Houlton from Interplast speaking on Tuesday 28 from 6pm for 6.30pm start $20 per head. For catering RSVPs need to be in by Monday 20 April.
    
2. Rotary District 9780 Assembly is meeting on 3 May in Stawell and registrations must be in by Monday 21 April. Anne encouraged members to attend and support Steve as he is soon to start his year as President. Brian Trenery will drive the bus if there is enough interest shown in bus transport.
    
3. Geoff James DG has announced that Rotarian Ray Herbert from Mt Gambier has been elected as DG for 2017-2018. Anyone objecting to this decision is to contact Chris Sims at Torquay club (see letter from DG below)
    
4. Anne is looking for spare flower pots if anyone has any - plastic, terracotta, large small she isn’t fussy.
