Rotary Foundation Movie Night fundraiser for "End Polio Now" - 13 March
Mary Fitzgerald advised that this film evening is to be held on Friday 13 March at 7pm at the Capitol Cinema in Kepler Street. Mary advised us that the film “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" actually opens on the 26 February and she asked Rotarians to hold off seeing it until the fund raiser night. Tickets are $20 (of which $11 goes to the END POLIO NOW program). The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel stars Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Richard Gere and many other well-known actors and is the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Both movies are based on the novel “These Beautiful Things” written by Deborah Moggach. Google “Marigold Hotel” and you can find out much more about both movies.
Relay for Life - 13 and 14 February
Tony Austin advised Rotarians that the Relay for Life event is being held this coming Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February and called for Rotarians to help at the event. Rotary will be providing a free breakfast on Saturday morning. Friday night help will be needed to set everything up and on Friday night they will sell Hamburgers, and eggs etc. They also plan to set up a drinks tent hoping to raise some extra money.
RYPEN
Terry O'Neill advised that the RYPEN program is open to students between the ages of 14 and 17 years and is designed to develop leadership, decision making, networking and community service skills in the attendees. The RYPEN program is particularly aimed at students who may not be in a leadership role but who exhibit qualities of compassion, concern and commitment to community wellbeing. Such students are often quiet achievers who never stand in the limelight, but who are steadfast, reliable and loyal and supportive of friends and peers.
RYPEN aims to deliver increased motivation skills, improved life skills, a better self-image and self-pride and an understanding of setting and achieving goals. The program aims to build confidence to overcome failure and to take control of the future.
Terry advised Rotarians that there is a new web site for RYPEN and the RYPEN program is now open for registrations. If you have a family member or you know of a student that RYPEN would be of value to, please contact Terry O’Neill who will need the students name and email address as the nomination forms this year are being processed online.
Students are required to pay the first $50 of the $225 cost per student.
There will be two RYPEN camps:

For 15 to 17 year old students.This will be held at Adekate Lodge, Creswick from the 10 to the 12 April 2015.

For 14 to 17 year old students. This will be held at Noorla Yo Long Campsite at Rendelshamfrom the 17 to the 19 April 2015.
