MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Terry O'Neill presented Svet with a thankyou gift and flowers on behalf of last year's Brazilian exchange student Fabio. Svet was away overseas when Fabio left Warrnambool and unlike his other host families, he was unable to present Svet and Russell with a thank you gift, so Terry did so on his behalf.

Show Gates - Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October

Doug Maclean asked Rotarians to check the show gates rosters for Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October. He still has a few gaps in the roster for the main gate on Friday 24 but hopes to have the roster finalised soon. The hours have been cut back this year and volunteers are asked to do four hour shifts, as he is keen not to burn people out with very long shifts. Rotaract is also involved and they will be used in an emergency. Doug would welcome any further offers of help.

Ron Bishop asked for help to clean out the boxes at the show ground on Wednesday 22 at 9:30 am. Please contact him if you are able to help for a couple of hours.

Subs

Janet Blackley thanked all those who have paid their subs. There are still some outstanding and if anyone has paid their subs directly into the bank can they please let her know.

Club Survey

Steve Giddens advised that he had received a good response to the club survey and the information has now been passed onto the Board for consideration.

BBQ for the South West Motorcycle Club's Rally - 1 November

Tony is running a BBQ for the local motorcycle club's rally on 1 November on the Civic Green. We’ve done this a couple of times and it’s a good money spinner and a good day. Please contact Tony Austin if you can help out. A Bunnings BBQ has also been arranged for January next year. Details to follow.

Hat Day - Tuesday 28 October at 6:00 pm

Wear your favourite hat! is coming up on Tuesday 28 October at 6 pm. Guest speaker will be Isabelle Collins who will talk about the Rotary Health Research Fund and speak about the issue of mental health. There will be prizes for the best hat and largest hat, finger food and lots of fun on the night. Partners and guests are most welcome. Rotary District Conference 20-22 March 2015

Astrid Sorensen thanked all those who attended her fund raising luncheon held at the home of her host Anne Adams on Sunday 12 October. The day was magnificent, and Anne's lovely home and a fabulous spread of fine food made for a very enjoyable afternoon. Astrid made her famous Danish Meat Balls and Danish Potato Salad. Rotarians gave generously and the day raised $337.50 which will be put towards swags for the homeless.

Lights Project

Brian Trenery thanked all those who participated in the trial of the Lights Project held at Deakin on 7 October. Brian asked that feedback forms be returned as soon as possible. Brian thanked Tony Austin for organising the food and BBQ chefs, Keith McLeod for organising the sweets and Judy Ross for her organisation of the individual orders and hamburger construction.

Of the 20 vehicles checked on the night, a number had defects such as indicators, brake lights, tail lights, tyres, wheel alignment and rear number plate lights.
