MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sergeant Andrea Sampson encouraged members to attend a Rotaract fund raising Quiz Night next Friday 11 October. Tickets from Andrea prior to the event cost $15 and are $20 on the night. Event to be held in the Wannon Rooms. Come along and support our future Rotarians!

 

To be held in the home of Dr and Mr D Mladenovic, 34 Mortlake Road on Sunday 10th November. Admission $5.00 with proceeds going to Peter's Project and local Inner Wheel projects. Enquiries to Carolyn (0409623185) or Lydia (55624739).

 

Rotarian John Hunt urged Rotarians to put their hands up to help out at this Sunday's Bunnings BBQ. 7 people have volunteered and more are needed for this all day fund raiser. Please let John know if you are available. Roster to be sent out tomorrow.

 

Pontings have generously offered to supply the meat for this BBQ at their store. 3-4 volunteers are needed, so please let John Hunt know if you are able to help out. Roster to go out by the end of the week.

 

Rotarian Doug Maclean advised that the Rosters are "pretty well sorted out" and thanked Rotarians for their support.

 

This "Melboure Cup" Club meeting will be held at the Wangoom Store. Rotarians Trevor and Terry are organising the racing and Svet is organising a meal with a German/Russian flavour. Mark your calendars for both you and your partner and Svet will provide more information at next week's meeting.

 

PP Judy Ross thanked all the Rotarians who took care of "Dad" while she was away, particularly Tony Austin for driving John to Melbourne and others who visited John while he was in hospital in Melbourne and then in Warrnambool. John is now in good health and it is good to see him back at Rotary meetings.  Judy also flagged a possible future photo night of her travels as well as the time she spent in Switzerland with Rotary Exchange Student Laura, who she stayed with. Laura is currently doing an apprenticeship as an optometrist and intends to eventually attend university for 3 years to become fully qualified. Judy said she had a wonderful holiday, however it was good to be home.

 

Rotarian Tony Austin advised that Andrew Suggett, Chair of Rotary House Committee. will be opening Rotary House from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm tomorrow night for people wishing to see the work in progress. The official opening is scheduled for 22nd November.

 

Rotarian Terry O'Neill reminded Rotarians of the RYLA program information published in the Bulletin over the last two weeks. RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Award. This program is run by a team of professionals and is described as exciting, innovative and inspiring. It covers leadership skills and issues, public speaking and communication skills, goal setting and motivation, development of self-confidence and self-esteem and also provides career guidance.

It is a great opportunity for young adults aged between 18-25 to take part in what has been described by many past participants as a life changing experience.

So to any employers, parents or grand parents if you think this program could assist in the development of an employee, child or grand child Terry would be only too happy to provie you with the program information and application forms.

Our Club has budgeted for two nominees.

Closing date for nominations is the 20th December.

Program runs from the 13th to the 18th April at Kangaroobie, Princetown.
