Brian Trenery thanked outgoing President Trevor and presented him with a Past President badge. Brian then inducted Michael Boyd as President of Rotary Club for 2018/19.
President Michael reviewed the previous year and then presented us with his vision for 2018/19 and his team of directors for the forthcoming year.

Thank you, Brian and thank you all for coming along today to mark the completion of another successful year for the Rotary Club of Warrnambool, under President Trevor and the start of another year of collective service to our community.
I would like to briefly focus on the highlights for 2017/18:
- We have contributed $65000 through our activities into our community
- We have continued our volunteer input into programs like Father of the Year, Camp Quality, the Eisteddfod
- We have focussed on our youth through RYLA, Youth Exchange, Standing Tall and Rotaract
- We have supported the growth of the PNG project lead by Tony
- We have enjoyed fellowship and company of one another at meetings and various social functions
Congratulations to you Trevor on the leadership you have provided to our club, the achievements described in our Annual Report is a reflection on you as our President.
I am also mindful that I become President in a club that has been operating since 1929. In November 2019 the club will complete 90 years of service to our community. I commend the History of the Rotary Club of Warrnambool to you as it documents programs like:
- Establishment of Meals on Wheels
- Senior Citizens Concert
- Construction of BBQs in Lake Pertobe
- Trees in Banyan Street
- Support for the disabled
- Surf Club lookout tower
- And many more projects that demonstrate the impact of our club on the community.
I am aware that we have a number of members who are not as fit and agile as they used to be, but we must recognise and respect the years of service collectively contributed by many who would claim the title of ‘mature Rotarians’ – I salute you and thank you for service, but it isn’t over yet – there is more work to be done (we continue to need your involvement). I am also pleased that we have a new generation of fitter members who are stepping up into leadership positions in our club – there is more work to be done.
I am fortunate to have my daughter Carly and granddaughters Bree and Talia to share this event with me. I am also very fortunate to have the support of Sharon; without her encouragement and tolerance I probably would not be standing up here, I am also very fortunate to have Sharon’s support and wisdom as my Secretary throughout the next 12 months.
It is with this background that I humbly accept the honour to be the President of this club for the next 12 months, I trust that we, together, will add some more highlights to the history of our Club over the next 12 months. I will be back after dessert to outline some plans for the year and our Board of Directors.
