Good news & Bad news
Good News - only 2 people will contribute to the fines box tonight.
Bad News - Myself and an anonymous donor with the initials "Tony Austin"
Mal has been initiated into the Fukanino Tribe. Unfortunately he was unable, or unwilling, to relate the details of the initiation but indicated that he may spill the beans under appropriate conditions (something to do with wine).
Mal made a significant "happy buck" contribution due to having caught "the biggest" black bass during a very quick fishing expedition while in PNG. The village very excitedly welcomed back the "white hunter-gatherer" returning with food.
Early in the expedition Tony realised the wealth of fines he was amassing. One true fine - the most important thing that happened, in Mal's opinion - was the forming of the Oro Community Service Organisation. We have heard of "foot and mouth disease". Tony, while addressing the very influential people of the Community, referred to PNG as a "Third World Country". Stumbling to cover his tracks he reverted to the term "Developing Nation".
Tony, in reply, reported that, having stayed back at the village working while Mal fished, Mal & Ewen later showed Tony where they were fishing. As they looked at the river, not 20 metres away, a "huge crocodile" slithered into the water!!
