Our club provides the following services for the homeless, or those in need, each Sunday between 3.00pm and 6.00pm:
- Clothes washing and drying;
- Showers and use of club’s towels;
- Change of clothing (if required);
- Hygiene packs (if required);
- Small BBQ (sausages in bread);
- Tea/coffee, biscuits; and
- Sit around and have a chat whilst waiting for clothes/washing/drying.
Our base is Council’s Surfside 2 caravan park where we have use of a laundry, toilet block, shed with urn and fridge where we can store supplies, and an electric bbq. We feed the coins into the washing machines & dryers.
From Sunday 23rd December through to the second week in February we will need to relocate because of the opening of Surfside 2 to campers.
For the Summer period we will be temporarily relocating to the F Project building next door to the Timor Street laundrette (opp. IGA supermarket) where we hope to continue to provide the above services.
We roster on 2 males and 2 females each week and would love to welcome Rotary Club of Warrnambool members to assist with the project.
Any persons requiring further information can contact Daybreak’s co-ordinator for the project, Glenn Rundell, Email: reeandglenn@hotmail.com, or ph 0417 031 943.
It is proposed to run a 5 week roster, updated fortnightly and have 2 Daybreak Club Rotarians and 2 Warrnambool Club Rotarians on duty each week.
Please find on next page the roster commencing Sunday 13 January. Could RC of Warrnambool co-ordinator please place names & email addresses in spaces provided and return to Glenn. Glenn will email those on roster a couple of days beforehand as a reminder.
Many thanks
Regards
Glenn Rundell
