CAMP QUALITY OPENING

Robert Cuzens spoke in glowing terms about the opening of Camp Quality on Sunday 9 November. He thanked Rotarians: Tony Austin, who was also helping with the Inner Wheel Garden Party, Keith McLeod, Steve Giddens, Judy Ross, Phillip Ross, Andrea Sampson and Gordon Curran.  Richard Hawker and John Nisbet were congratulated on bringing the Camp Quality project to a successful Conclusion. Camp Quality will make a huge difference in the lives of children suffering with cancer, their parents and siblings. A short holiday in the new cabin will allow sick children and their families to have an affordable holiday and some 'normal' family time in the midst of a treatment regime - a priceless experience to many sick children and their families.

John Nisbet thanked the Board for accepting to take on the Camp Quality project. He thanked PP John Hunt for his valuable input into the funding process. During the two years $100,000 was raised by Rotarians working at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, the Dinner Auction night and various BBQs. The opening was attended by around 60 people including the Victorian CEO of Camp Quality, local dignitaries, Camp Quality Puppet performers, and Jayden, a child who is currently having cancer treatment. Jayden and his mother expressed their gratitude and how important the holiday had been to the family.

John aso paid tribute to Richard Hawker who has been involved with Camp Quality for 24 years. He thanked Bunny Hinchcliff for her dedication to the project and tasteful selection of equipment, furnishings and interior decor.
