Return and Earn Partner Project - Recycling for Community

♻️ Did You Know?

Every year Australians use around 13 billion drink containers. Thanks to Return and Earn schemes, billions of bottles and cans are now being recycled instead of becoming landfill or litter.  This helps:

✅ Reduce waste going to landfill;
✅ Support local community projects;
✅ Help create a cleaner environment for future generations; and
✅ With your help can turn your empty containers into funding for Rotary community service.

One of the great benefits of a community recycling partner project of this nature is that no-one is being required to spend any physical money.  Schools, Businesses and workplaces are simply redirecting a resource that currently often ends up in the rubbish bin and landfill into funds to benefit the local community. It demonstrates:

✅ Environmental sustainability;
✅ Community Engagement;
✅ Waste reduction; and
✅ Circular economy initiatives (minimizing environmental impact while maximising available resources).

By participating in a project of this nature the whole of our community are actively reducing the waste going into our local council landfill while supporting valuable community projects and annual Rotary disbursements to areas such as:

  • Community Projects

💓 Mission Heart Start - 2016-2020 - Where funds generated from the proceeds of recycled expired vehicle and equipment batteries assisted our Club to fund the donation of over 21 lifesaving AED's into the Tamworth Community;
🌹Restoration of the Gipps St Memorial - 2017 - A community project restoring the Gipps St Memorial on the “Avenue of Honour” and reinstating the annual ANZAC Day Gipps St Memorial Service which is run annually by our Club for the community;
🌳 The ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Rotary Airport Park on Gunnedah Road; and
🫶 Flourish Australia outdoor Landscaping - 2020 - A volunteer project helping Flourish Australia upgrade their landscaping and create a safe and inviting outdoor space for its members.

Recycling of lead acid batteries removes these batteries from farms, businesses, sheds and back yards and effectively turns a waste product into funds to benefit your Tamworth community.
