Lachlan open the meeting he welcomed Ray Bassett and John Steele as guests.

Lachlan commented on the olden days when daylight saving started they went from soup to sweets at the dinners. It doesn’t happen here at the RSL.

Lachlan called Lisa to the podium.

Lisa mentioned Zach was an apology and said we received a thank you email from Peace of Mind foundation for our donation.

She also received emails from two students who were looking for sponsorship for the National Youth Science program in Canberra.

Alan Ollis thanked everyone that helped on the Peace Park cleanup. Even had a couple walking past thanked him for the work.

He follows the Melanie Jewson Foundation where we had given some money for books for Vanuatu and the money used was providing a literacy program in Vanuatu.

Alan Hart reminded us the following weeks dinner at the Little Chef we’ve got 22 people not forgetting on 13 December the Christmas function at the Leopold Sports Club, only 11 weeks to go to Xmas.

Andrew Jones being on the board of the Apco Foundation talked to us about two charities that had obtained funding from the foundation.

One was Thread Together (https://www.threadtogether.org) a national charity distributing brand-new clothes which normally would’ve gone to landfill and giving them away to homeless people. It started in Sydney and they now recycle 2 million units of clothing. They’ve supported 9 ½ thousand people. All their clients are referred to them and they have mobile vans with along with an online wardrobe they try to provide an authentic shopping experience.

And the other was The Outpost (https://www.outpostgeelong.org.au) which is now operating from 42 Little Ryrie Street in Geelong. It provides a lifeline for connection community and empowerment. Andrew was impressed with thee number of young volunteers helping run the organisation.

Please click on the links to these charities and read up on them.

There will be questions at our next meeting!

Raffle was drawn and Lisa close the meeting.
