Minutes of Meeting 17/08/2026

Zach open the meeting and  welcomed our speaker Nathan Jones from The Power in You.

 

Zach reported that the golf day is going well receiving bookings and the golf club has 50 applications for accommodation.

 

Zach is meeting with Geelong at 10 o'clock Wednesday if anyone wanted to join him.

 

We have two weeks left in the back room at the RSL before construction starts and will be moving to the front room.

 

Lisa then spoke on the barbecue to be held at Kardenia Park on 30 September. You can meet a Melbourne Cup race horse. Names of volunteers were taken.

 

Daryl Pobjoy is back on Monday and will attend the presidents meeting on 29 August to present the golf day.

 

Lesa than mention that Andrew Jones is not receiving many replies from his meeting notification emails that are sent out and he feels unappreciated

"JUST BLOODY DO IT" and reply.

 

Alan Hart then introduced Nathan Jones who spoke on the Power in You Charity. The charity had been started by Kane who had been an ice addict and his vision for the charity was to provide services that he wish that he had had. They started a opened ended day centre  without any support. The mission was inspire and empower those affected by substance, mental health, justice related challenges or psychological. They have an outreach van meeting the homeless community with food, power banks, first aid supplies, weather appropriate clothing, they service 40 people a night at the moment they're receiving NDIS support but that funding is to be cut in the near future. They have a program called. Hope industries and Hope Soap. 1000 L of soap is a couple of weeks employment.

Nathan was asked what can Rotary do for the Charity, he will follow up on that.

General discussion followed and Zach presented Nathan with the Rotary Pen.
