Rotary Club of Ballarat West Changeover from past President Barry Henderson, to the incoming Sue Simmonds
which took place last Tuesday at the City Oval Hotel with more than 50 members and guests attending.
2019 Rotary Club of Ballarat West Changeover
From the President.
What a great start to a new Rotary Year it was on Tuesday evening at the City Oval Hotel. It was lovely to just stand there and listen to the talking and laughter coming from the room, one of the most important things about being in Rotary is Fellowship and it was flowing in abundance on Tuesday evening, if you have great fellowship you have a great Rotary Club because the two go hand in glove.
The theme this year is Rotary Connects the World and I feel the Rotary Club of Ballarat West is a good example from David’s Dental Hospital Project in the Solomon’s to donating to the Eureka Mum’s, two extremes connected by our Rotary Club, whilst Rotary International’s fight to eradicate Polio from the world and the fight against the spread of Malaria unites Rotary Clubs from all over the world.
We are fortunate enough to have the Rotary International President coming to Ballarat in September, I can’t recommend more highly that you attend the dinner, as soon as I have the details I will let you know as I have offered to work on a committee with our ADG Ellie Beer. Also, we have our DG Rosanne Kava coming in August when we will have a combined meeting at the Golf Club, have sent an email to confirm the date so Garry & Barry can lock it in. Different to the normal format of the DG coming and meeting with the Board of each club, that is fine we are all open to new ideas and moving forward.
My apologies for not being at the first Rotary meeting, but I am looking forward to our first club assembly and Board Meeting on the 9th July at the Lakeview Hotel.
Sue Simmonds
