Bruce Kruger used his $25 as a prize in a contest he set up at 2 elementary schools in Bracebridge. He challenged students to write an essay about what Remembrance Day means to them. He reviewed the essay submissions and selected a winner, Joanna McMurray. The winner received a special certificate, $25, 2 Swiss Chalet chicken dinners that Bruce donated and the opportunity to read her essay at the cenotaph on Remembrance Day in Bracebridge. When she was given her $25, she said that she didn’t want it. She said that the prize money was not the reason she wrote her essay. Bruce asked her to keep the money and use it to continue paying it forward.
