Combating Maternal Mortality in City Slums

Dr. Kavita Sripat Agarwal, Director, Society for Integrated Development and Social Reconstruction (SIDSR), holds a PhD in Psychology from Allahabad University. She worked as Senior Executive Officer (Projects) and Project Director at Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH), Allahabad (India) from 1989 to 2018. During her time at KNMH, her areas of interest included intervention planning, monitoring and evaluation of  community health programs on Maternal & Child Health, Cancer, HIV-AIDS, and Tuberculosis. After retirement, she launched SIDSR with the main focus currently on early cancer detection and tobacco cessation.

Dr. Agalwar will speak on causes of high maternal mortality in the state of eastern UP and initiatives undertaken to provide accessible and quality health care including family planning to the city slum population.
