Local Projects
Across Evanston, Rotaract works to better our local community through monetary grants and community service hours. Here are a few of our favorite projects we've completed:
Little Free Library
In 2023, Rotaract purchased, assembled, and installed a Little Free Library in Raymond's Park. The library is popular with families and always has a plentiful bounty of books!
In this work, we partnered with Shepard Residential College and the Prototyping and Fabrication Lab at Northwestern University. The project was funded by a grant from the Northwestern Student Philanthropy Council.
Clark St. Bird Sanctuary
In 2024, we partnered with the Clark St. Bird Sanctuary to purchase dozens of native plants for the local avian community. Today, the plants are thriving and serve as a great habitat for birds!
The project was funded by a grant from the Northwestern Student Philanthropy Council.

Bookman's Alley Mural
In 2025, we commissioned a mural for the redeveloped Bookman's Alley in Downtown Evanston. The mural was painted by Juan A. Cano, a famous Chicago street artist. The mural incorporates elements of the alley's history alongside a fragmented butterfly. In May 2025, we held a large opening party for over 200 Evanston residents to help inaugurate the mural!
This project was funded by a grant from the Northwestern Buffett Institute and the Student Philanthropy Council.
