Girls' Lightning Run

On January 22, 2010, the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour will be providing assistance and encouragement to the girls of Madeira Park and vicinity as they participate in a seven-kilometre run.

There will be two main checkpoints along the highway, acting as water stations and relay exchange points. Parents will be stationed along the way to watch for traffic and to cheer the girls on.

The RCMP is sending out one vehicle with a constable for the entire run; paramedics will also be on scene for the duration. High school students will run with primary kids in a buddy system. Rotarians will man the water stations and other higher-risk areas; and the PH Rotary Club will donate up to $500.00 for T-shirts for the girls.
