It is always our happiness sharing with you about our days, present situation and what we do in our neighborhood. Nobody tells us to do social work but we do it because we feel good doing something from our heart. We know about the Rotary Clubs as in our area there is a Rotary Club office beside the main road. They take projects for poor people and very poor children. Last year the club provided wheel-chair to the disabled people and arranged an eye-camp for the people suffering from vision difficulty. We know a doctor named Sawkat Laskar a Rotarian and bears a high-quality attitude & behavior. He helps poor patients and sometimes does not take any fees from the extremely poor people.

Experiencing the covid challenges, we are in another trouble of price hike. Price of goods and commodities is so high that we can’t afford it and are challenged again with our livelihoods. Taking experience from the past food crisis, mothers of our school started little savings in groups and personally in piggy banks which have come to us as beneficial to our life. We sometimes discuss the war and conflict between Russia & Ukraine and wish this will end soon. We think it’s an international political issue, again a commercial fight between Russia and America. Maybe both! Some of our neighbors again took loans from local cooperatives with a high interest rate to keep them alive. Mothers of our school are not much afraid as we are planning well and rationing costs that don’t have to fall in the loan trap.

You will be happy to know that in September we celebrated National Girls’ Child’ Day in our community. We arranged a common discussion session in our community where over 60 women and a few men attended. We planned for the event earlier and developed a panel of speaker to lift up the whole issue topic by topic including

= Why it is important to create an equal opportunity for girls.
= What is the benefit?
= Where is the barrier?
= What the mothers have done so far for the girls.
= Who can support and how?

Our government, community leaders and religious leaders talk nicely in favor of girls but hardly take good initiative. There are many parents who love their daughter a lot but provide the best support, food and opportunities for their sons. In the event mothers described their childhood, how they were deprived. Our friend Pakhi Akther Nupur said, “I can see the present situation of girls is almost the same as it was before considering the basic thinking of the parents. Still, boys get the best food served by their mothers, get pocket money, good dress and education. Poor or rich both bear an equal attitude and thinking which has come from generations. It’s a sickness of thinking”. But as the mothers of Amarok School, we have changed our thinking into action. Now is the time to change others so that they become sensitive to the girls. We are motivated and confident that we could change others and our girls will get a favorable environment in their family and society.

All mothers of our school have completed the booster dose vaccine and covid infection is almost zero now in our place.

Thank you very much for establishing the Mother School in our community and developing us as mother-teachers.

Yours lovingly,

Pakhi Akther Nupur, Mukta Begum, Rahima and Salma
(Mothers of the school)
