June 13th, Haida Bolton made an informative presentation on the Pender Harbour Better at Home program. This program is funded by the provincial government and administered by the Unity Way. The program helps seniors with simple non medical home support services so they continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their community. The PH program services individuals from Halfmoon Bay to Egmont, providing meals, grocery pick up, housekeeping, and yard work, one on one transportation, friendship visits in home, or in a shared environment.  All fees are determined on a sliding scale based on income and ability to pay. Clients are never responsible for paying workers directly.
Since December this program provided 390 rides and 847 meals alone to local seniors.
Haida is especially passionate about her "Conversations in the Woods Program". Seniors gather at Tyner Park amongst the trees to share memories and stories sitting together enjoying tea & cookies provided.
