Remembrance Day in Parry Sound

Remembrance Day in Parry Sound

Under a clear November sky, the people of Parry Sound gathered at the cenotaph to honour the sacrifices of Canada’s veterans and service members. The first dusting of snow lay across the park as community members—young and old—stood shoulder to shoulder, many wearing poppies and winter coats against the crisp air. The ceremony featured the laying of wreaths, the presence of local cadets, uniformed officers, and a member of the RCMP in red serge, all standing in solemn formation. As the Last Post echoed through the quiet, a deep stillness settled over the crowd. It was a moving reminder that remembrance here is not just tradition, but a shared act of gratitude—one that binds this northern community in respect and reflection each November 11th.
