A Spotlight on The Great North Arrow — Our Community In Print
Rotary friends — last week The Great North Arrow (Sept 15, 2025 edition) showed us something powerful: even in this age of screens, our stories matter.
Here’s what struck me:
The newspaper brings together voices & faces from across our region — people, businesses, events. It reminds us how interwoven we all are.
There are stories of struggle, of persistence, of hope — and of people stepping up (just like Rotarians do) to make things better.
For many, this local press is the glue: keeping us informed, giving neighbors a chance to know each other, to care.
What this means for Rotary:
We already support local initiatives — what if we partner with The Great North Arrow to amplify Rotary stories?
We could offer to sponsor a column or story periodically: “Rotarians in Action” — featuring local projects, upcoming events, community impact.
Use their platform to reach people who might not yet know who we are — possibly attracting new members, raising visibility.
Let’s discuss at our next meeting: how we can elevate Rotary’s presence in the local media, support local journalism, and strengthen our community’s connection.
