The Polson Rotary Club welcomed our 2022/23 Polson Rotary Exchange student Ianna Young and her mother Cindy to lunch today. Ianna shared an overview of the year that she just spent on Rotary student exchange in Brazil. She had an incredible cultural and educational experience, staying with three different families and learning Portuguese! She attended Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, camped out and swam in the Amazon, and enjoyed Brazilian cuisine. Her parents were able to visit her in Brazil in April, and they were also one of our host families for Julia, the Brazilian exchange student that spent the year in Polson. Ianna befriended several other international exchange students in Brazil, and has plans to visit new friends in Europe next year. She would like to improve her Portuguese language skills by studying in Portugal in the near future. At home in Polson, Ianna is very interested in starting a new Rotary Interact Club. She also brought our Club a beautiful Brazilian flag as a thank you souvenir! 🇧🇷

Then, Roger Grimes introduced his guest, Matt Lee of the Polson Boxing Club. The Boxing Club meets in the basement of the Polson V.F.W. and welcomes boxers age 10-100. As a military veteran, Matt stresses the importance of respect, hard work and self-discipline for all of the Club’s boxers. The Club isn’t run as a daycare, but does give kids a good opportunity for improving their physical skills, and fostering teamwork and friendship after school. Adult boxers are also welcome to improve their skills and compete. To become involved with the Polson Boxing Club, see their group Facebook page or stop by a practice at the Polson V.F.W!
