Bret opened the meeting at KwaTaqNuk Resort at 12:15 with 18 in attendance and 2 Zooming in.
Announcements were as follows:
Polio Day is November 1. The District is having a meeting in Kalispell, which can also be attended by Zoom. Only 2 countries left with live virus to be eradicated!
Christmas Party is scheduled for December 1. Brooke is in charge of planning-probably a similar format to last year.
Jamie Russell was approved as a new member at the Board meeting.
A highway clean-up project is in the works. Mile marker 56-57 on the Polson hill South of town has been assigned.
The Dictionary project in underway-several schools has already received the books for 3rd graders.
Larry Peltz has started a monthly International Update report to the Club. Dr. Funsho, chairman of Rotary's Nigeria Committee is
featured in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People for his efforts in eradicating polio in that country.
ZOOM improvements are coming!
The successful Teacher/Staff Appreciation drive is still about $ 1,000 short in its funding.
The Board has decided to change meeting formats for the winter. The 1st and 3rd Tuesdays will be KwaTaqNuk style meetings.
One week will be devoted to projects such as Highway clean-up, breakfast burritos for Cinemafest, etc. and another week will
be a social of some kind. If there is a 5th Tuesday, birthday talks will be featured. Also, meetings may be "tightened" to make
the time-frame more appealing to members who may have a hard time with the 90 minutes format.
Brody won the Raffle and donated his winnings to Mission Valley Aquatics. Larry Ashcraft administered Justice and the Happy Bucket saw a lot of Happy People with Bret, Gayle, Dave F, Jim, Megan and Larry P.
Our member Ed Gannon was a late fill-in for the program and gave a modified birthday talk talking about his early exposure to engineering
from his father over the dinner table and his long career in chemical engineering. He is recommending a book on the long process in the development of the most important discovery for mankind in nitrogen fertilizer, which has led to sustaining the world populations.
