President Larry Peltz called the meeting to order at 12:15pm. The meeting was held at The Kwataqnuk Resort. Jake Baumann led us in song. Dick Beighle gave the invocation.
Announcements are as follows:
Rotary minute: Larry commented on how the Rotary Foundation awarded nearly $87 millon through 1306 grants during fiscal year 2018. The breakdown of causes supported include:
Preventing disease-$35.6 million
Providing clean water-$18.8 million
Supporting Education-$11 million
Growing local economies-$10.5 million
Saving mothers & children-$7.2 million
Promoting peace-$3.5 million.
Larry strongly promoted giving to the foundation. Only 4 of the 63 Polson Rotary club members have contributed. Sharon Fulton is the club’s foundation person. Hu Beaver said the investment is $100 a year to be a Rotary Fellow.

The drawing was won by Bret Richardson. He gave the Goat Peak Ranch men’s cancer retreat.
Larry mentioned the Polson Rotary scholarship winners. Each Polson High School senior was awarded $1000. The winners were Shea McGuiness, Keyen Dalby, Robin Erickson and Mathew Moderie.
The June 4th meeting will be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ronan. Club director Aric Cooksley will be the featured speaker.
Ray Wooldridge had the program. He introduced graduates from the Leadership Flathead Reservation Program.
Marie Hirsch the Business Development Director at Lake County Community Development spoke first about how the program was formed in fall of 2017 to help develop new leaders and help them to network and collaborate. She introduce Shannon Patton, branch manager at Valley Bank in Ronan and a member of the first Leadership Flathead Reservation class which graduates this year. Shannon explained the two facets of the program; individual skill building and addressing community wide issues. The class meets every Friday for 9 months at various locations throughout the county and learned about varying aspects of industry including healthcare, law enforcement, tribal and non-tribal perspectives.
Shannon introduced Rosie Goldich, farm to institution program coordinator at Lake County Community Development. She moved to the valley 2 years ago and has used Leadership Flathead Reservation to learn more about the area and the issues that are relevant.
Two Polson Rotarians are involved in the program. Brooke Duty will graduate with the first class and Megan Beard has one more year in the program. Application and more information is available on the Lake County Community Development website.
The next Polson Rotary meeting will be Tuesday, June 4th at the Boys and Girls Club in Ronan.
