Mamunur Rahman from Bangladesh, is Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow under Fulbright Exchange program of U.S. State Department. He is the deputy general manager of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Foundation, Ministry of Industries, where he is promoting SMEs on behalf of the government, particularly in developing green industries. He is also serving as board secretary of his organization and playing key roles in making government key policies related to industrial development. He is heading some key departments like research and policy advocacy, institutional linkage and industrial cluster development. Being the part of the senior management, he served as a secretary to the board of directors, consisting of current and former cabinet ministers. He was awarded the British Chevening Scholarship to his master degree from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK and earlier he did his under graduation in economics from the University of Dhaka. Having United Nations scholarship, he completed a long course in climate change and green industries from the Central European University, Hungary.  With support of GIZ Nepal, Rahman has worked as an international expert and conducted global value chain analysis and identification of the prevailing trade barriers in South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) regions. He worked as a team leader on a United Nations Population Fund project in the Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector in Bangladesh and worked for EU Bangladesh to develop the 'Bangladesh Gender Country Profile'.   As an expert with the United Nations Development Program, he worked on formulating women’s entrepreneurship development projects of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of Bangladesh. During his Humphrey year, he plans to develop leadership skills as well as work with several U.S. departments that are active in Bangladesh. His long-term objective is the creation of green jobs that mitigate poverty, pollution, climate change and unplanned urbanization.
