Riverside Secondary To Visit Brazil
The Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam Centennial was pleased to assist Riverside Secondary School in the schools various projects including their proposed visit to Brazil with selected Staff and students .
The trip is designed to learn and to care about less fortunate children, to reach out and to share in the life of children in a developing country. To this purpose, they hope to take basic supplies, such as clothes, shoes, Braille educational material, school and medical supplies. With the money collected, thanks to donators in the community and organizations such as the Rotary Club of Port Coquitlam and many hours of recycling drink containers at school, they will be able to provide some Brazilian children with food, mattresses, chiming clocks, cabinets and a new drainage system to get rid of stagnant waters and mosquitoes that cause maleria. In the process, the lives of our students will be enriched by the contact with a different culture; they will also develop a keener sense of responsibility and justice, as well as a deeper appreciation for the country we live in."
